Five steps to quit smoking

1. Make a commitment: The first step a smoker must take is to make a commitment to reducing the level of nicotine you are using. When a smoker is committed to quit, they will have a better chance of succeeding. If you just want to “kick the tire” the likelihood of success is very small.

2. Inform others of your plan: Telling as many close friends and family members as possible of your decision to quit smoking will help you get support from people who care for you. It will help you be accountable to those around you, particularly in those difficult times when you are not sure if you can do it. Let your social circle know that you are reducing your nicotine intake over a period of time, as a plan to fully quit smoking.

3. Understand the major challenges: The physical and psychological effects of quitting comprise the two major challenges of reducing your nicotine intake. Each smoker will be affected to different degrees. That is why we recommend that you gradually reduce your nicotine intake using a schedule to control the number of e-cigs you vape and the amount of nicotine per electronic cigarette. Using a device that looks and operates like a cigarette will help alleviate the psychological challenges and address the physical cues that prompt smoking.
