5 tips to cut down on smoking

Any smoker (or former smoker) will tell you there’s no such thing as an easy way to quit smoking. But there are changes you can make to your daily routine to kick the habit faster.

Various evidence supports the argument that e-cigs will help you quit smoking (see this article on ecigs from The Wall Street Journal and this briefing from the UK smoking services for examples), and our customers repeatedly tell us how our products helped them to quit. But if you’re using e-cigarettes and still giving in to temptation, we’ve put together a list of tips to help you quit smoking.

Avoid situations where you would normally smoke

If you’re trying to cut out fast food, it’s probably best to avoid the McDonalds Drive-Thru. In the same way, avoiding the smoking area of your favorite pub is wise if you’re trying to quit smoking. It’s hard enough resisting temptation, but it’s even harder when it’s right in front of you.

Set goals for using the money you save from not smoking

Instead of focusing on how hard it’s going to be without your favorite stress reliever, think of the positives. Without stating the obvious health benefits of quitting, think of all the money you’ll save when you’re not buying cigarettes. Switch to e-cigarettes, which are substantially cheaper than regular cigarettes (see this post about traditional cigs and ecigs price comparison), and put the extra cash you save towards that holiday or new car you’re saving for.

Choose a new activity to replace smoking

Easier said than done since we always want what we can’t have, but finding a new hobby to replace smoking might be just what you need. Ever thought of joining a boxing club? Try it out! Tempted by the idea of hiking? Buy some hiking boots with the money you save and go outdoors! The more active your hobby, the healthier you will feel.

Reduce your intake gradually

Instead of setting a date to quit smoking, start by limiting how many cigarettes you are going to allow yourself each day. This way you’ll put less pressure on yourself by having achievable daily goals. Logic’s nicotine reduction program allows people to reduce or eliminate smoking by slowly reducing nicotine levels over time with electronic cigarettes.
